Conditions of Awards
The IPWR considers the scientific and fiduciary responsibilities in the award of research grant funds to be paramount and expects investigators receiving research grant awards to be similarly responsible. Therefore, investigators are strongly encouraged to review the IPWR Statement of Policies and Procedures.
The following are summaries of the key conditions for the award of a research grant:
- The principal investigator agrees to acknowledge The Institute for Public Health and Water Research in all publications, abstracts and oral presentations about the work supported by the grant.
- A final scientific report of the conduct and findings of the research grant will be provided to the IPWR no later than 60 days after the end of the funding period.
- A final financial report detailing the expenditure of funds will be provided to the IPWR at the same time as the final scientific report is submitted (60 days after the end of the funding period).
- All unexpended funds in excess of $500 at the end of the funding period must be returned to the IPWR.
- No investigator may submit a new research grant application until all final scientific and financial reports from previous awards have been submitted and accepted and any unexpended funds returned to the IPWR.
- The final scientific and financial reports must be signed by the principal investigator and the responsible business official at the university or sponsoring research organization.
- Prior to beginning any research activity with human participants or laboratory animals, approval from the appropriate Institutional oversight boards must be obtained and copies of those documents submitted to the IPWR.
- The principal investigator must provide the IPWR with two copies of all published papers resulting from the research grant support.
