Jim Mitchell has 27 years of experience in the consumer products industry, and has been associated with the US water industry for over 10 years.
Mr. Mitchell received degrees in chemistry and biochemistry from the California State University in Sacramento and the University of California at Berkeley. He has also received training in Marketing, Sales and Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and holds professional certificates in business process development and consumer research.
Mr. Mitchell is currently the Director of Research and Development for The Clorox Company and has held positions in product development, technology acquisition and business process improvement. He has also served as the Director of Brita Research and Development for seven years. Prior to joining Clorox, Mr. Mitchell worked for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and local pollution control boards developing studies in environmental chemistry.
Besides his board position at the IPWR, Mr. Mitchell volunteers as Officer and Secretary for the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association, a California State Park cooperative non-profit. He is also a past Board of Governors member of the U.S. Water Quality Association and past Joint Committee member on drinking water for NSF International.
